How can a software website make its public pricing path clearer?
State what your public pricing page actually offers and give readers a direct route to it. Agent Gap reached 52 of 70 pricing-task endpoints on 6 October 2026, despite finding all 70 pages and recording 67 correct results. Those observations identify a path worth inspecting; they do not prove that a particular wording change will improve completion.
What we measured
Measured. In the Agent Gap pricing-path method, the ChatGPT Work browser interface was used on 70 selected software vendors. This task recorded 70 found pages, 67 correct results, 2 incorrect results and 1 unscored result. It reached the endpoint in 52 sessions. The study's other tasks and 30 separate repeat sessions are not added to the pricing base.
Discovery, a correct account of the price information and reaching the destination were separate checks. None established a submitted quote request or a payment. The date is 6 October 2026; the record is not a current-price list.
No page-copy intervention was tested, so the suggestions below are reasoned inspection steps rather than measured improvements.
Our answer-study method, v1.1.
What this means for you
Reasoned. Begin with the public statement. If an amount is published, keep its currency, billing basis and qualifications beside it. If an individual quote is required, say that plainly instead of leaving the assistant to infer a numerical price.
Check the route from the product page too. Use a label that identifies pricing and verify where it leads. Distinguish the information available on the public page from a later step that asks the visitor to supply details or speak to a person.
- If you own the pricing page: confirm the facts with the responsible commercial owner before changing copy.
- If you review the path: record the source page, destination and date; describe the point reached without submitting a form to make the result look complete.
- If you commission a correction: name the specific ambiguity and how the published change will be checked.
Keep the old and new page receipts when an edit is made. A served clarification proves that the agreed explanation changed. Whether an assistant subsequently records a different result requires a separate dated observation.
