Can AI search use information from the live web?
Search-enabled AI can use web information, but that does not guarantee that every supporting page was fetched afresh or that the answer is current. On 22 September 2026, Procore was named in 0 of 3 Google AI Overviews answers and 3 of 3 Google AI Mode answers on one construction question. Those counts record different observed names, not the mechanism or freshness of either retrieval.
What we measured
Measured. The September Index method repeated the same construction question three times on each named engine. In this 22 September 2026 cell, Procore's naming count was 0 of 3 for AI Overviews and 3 of 3 for AI Mode. The descriptive Wilson 95 percent intervals are 0.0 to 56.1 percent and 43.9 to 100.0 percent, respectively.
The figure does not identify the pages fetched during generation, establish why the names differed or show an engine-wide advantage.
Reported. Google's AI feature documentation, read 28 October 2026, says AI Overviews and AI Mode may issue multiple related searches and show supporting web links. A supporting page must be indexed and eligible to appear in Search with a snippet. This is the provider's account of the search features, separate from our observed naming cell; eligibility does not guarantee selection.
Every figure comes from the published method, v1.1.
What this means for you
Reasoned. Ask what the specific answer used. A page being on the web, being eligible for search and appearing as a supporting source are different facts. Read the cited passage and its date rather than assuming that an answer with links contains only current information.
Keep the interface and collection conditions in the record. “AI” is too broad a label to tell you whether a particular answer used search. A provider's search-enabled feature should not be used to describe every mode or response that provider offers.
- If you publish a page: make current facts clear and dated, but do not treat publication as proof that an answer has incorporated them.
- If you buy software: open the source behind an important claim and check whether it supports the answer's product, date and scope.
- If you report visibility: keep the observed result separate from any explanation of the retrieval process unless that process has its own evidence.
A later answer can be checked against the changed page. Until that observation exists, retain the published change and the previous captured answer as separate dated records.

Record the engine and sources when using Free 10-question check (one engine) rather than assuming that every answer came from a fresh page fetch. No email is needed; runs are limited per network and per day, and by the site's daily allowance.
If a checked source contains an outdated or unsupported product statement, Fix one answer, $490. A served correction and a later engine response need separate receipts.
Claiming or correcting a vendor record is free and never depends on a purchase.
