What evidence should an AI factual-accuracy alert include?

An AI factual-accuracy alert should let you locate the claim, inspect its source and understand the proposed classification. Out of 2,922 classified statements, Wrong About You recorded 113 wrong, five stale and 880 unverifiable statements in answers captured on 22 and 23 September 2026. Combining those states into one alarming total would lose the distinction needed to choose a useful response.

What we measured

Measured. Wrong About You provides the classification example for an alert record. Its method assessed 2,922 statements about 70 vendors in answers captured on 22 and 23 September 2026, comparing them with vendor pages read on 8 October. It labelled 113 wrong, five stale and 880 unverifiable. Team review remains in progress. These classes describe reviewed answer claims; they do not measure an alerting product's detection coverage, false alarms or speed. A notification needs its own retained evidence before a reader can assess it.

What this means for you

Reasoned. Request a sample alert before choosing a monitoring arrangement. It should carry the answer's capture date and engine, the exact disputed claim, the cited URL and the dated primary evidence used to assess it. The record also needs a reason for the classification and a clear place to note a correction or unresolved question.

Use the three study labels as a worked routing example. A wrong claim needs evidence of contradiction. A stale claim needs the historical statement and the source showing the later state. An unverifiable claim needs the missing evidence identified; it must not be treated as demonstrated falsehood. The study does not measure any alerting product's ability to detect those cases.

Ask how the supplier distinguishes an observed answer from its own inference about risk. The alert may identify a factual concern without establishing customer harm, lost revenue or a legal violation. If someone has already corrected a source, the record should show that delivery state separately from whether a later answer has changed.

Choose an alert format that a product owner can assess without a second round of detective work. A notification that gives only a score and a vendor name does not provide enough evidence to settle the claim.

  • If you buy monitoring: ask for one complete alert record and check its source trail.
  • If you own the product fact: confirm the right classification before approving corrective wording.
  • If you report to a client: distinguish the observed issue, its review state and any delivered correction.
