How should I request an AI fact correction with a source receipt?
Request a correction with the exact disputed claim, its location and a dated source that supports the replacement. Out of 2,922 classified statements, Wrong About You separated 113 wrong, five stale and 880 unverifiable statements in answers captured on 22 and 23 September 2026. Those labels call for different evidence; an unresolved claim should not become a confident accusation of error.
What we measured
Measured. The Wrong About You source-review method distinguishes the evidence a correction request needs. It classified 2,922 statements about 70 vendors from answers captured on 22 and 23 September 2026, comparing them with vendor pages read on 8 October. The published labels include 113 wrong, five stale and 880 unverifiable statements, with team review still in progress. Those are classification states in a selected cohort, not findings against the publisher you are writing to. Your request needs the evidence for its particular claim.
What this means for you
Reasoned. Keep the request small enough to assess. Identify the page or answer, the captured wording and the date, then link the relevant primary passage. State the product, plan or relationship scope it covers. If you propose replacement text, make it no broader than that passage supports.
A wrong-claim request should show the contradiction. A stale-claim request should show what was true before and when the state changed. An unverifiable-claim request can ask the publisher to supply evidence or retain an unknown state. It should not assert that a missing source proves the opposite. Include a correction contact so that the publisher can clarify scope without guessing.
Keep three records separate: request prepared, correction served and later answer observed. Sending a request does not establish that the publisher changed the page. A served source correction does not establish that an AI engine has updated its answer. Save a dated receipt for the stage you can actually demonstrate.
For a vendor record, factual correction must remain available independently of a paid service. You can ask for an unsupported fact to be corrected without buying optimisation work. A paid page deliverable, if wanted, has a separate scope and acceptance check.
- If you are the vendor: provide the narrow source passage and the effective date of the fact.
- If you are the publisher: keep unresolved claims distinct from established errors.
- If you act for a client: obtain factual approval before representing the replacement as the client's official statement.
