What should an AI information page say about our company?

An AI information page should state your company's identity, product scope and dated facts with links that support each claim. Wrong About You found 113 wrong and five stale statements among 2,922 statements in answers captured on 22 and 23 September 2026. A clear source page gives a reader something concrete to check when an answer describes your business incorrectly.

What we measured

Measured. Wrong About You's method checked AI descriptions against vendor source pages, the same factual boundary an official company page should make clear. Across 70 vendors it classified 2,922 statements in answers captured on 22 and 23 September 2026, using pages read on 8 October. It labelled 113 wrong and five stale; 880 other statements were unverifiable. Team review remains in progress. These labels concern the selected captured claims; the study did not test the effect of publishing an AI information page.

What this means for you

Reasoned. Begin with the official company and product names, the domain you control and a plain description of what the product does. Distinguish the company from a product, a former name or a partner. Include relationships only when you can support them with a current authoritative source. A list of attractive names is not a substitute for an accurate relationship statement.

Give important facts their own evidence. Link pricing to the current pricing page, integrations to their scoped documentation and changes to a dated announcement. If a statement applies only to a plan, module or region, put that condition in the sentence. Do not promote an inference from an incomplete source into an official product claim.

Make the page maintainable. Add the date of the fact review and a correction contact, then identify which source should govern when a commercial or product detail changes. Keep a true historical fact dated rather than allowing it to appear current through repetition.

Publishing the page demonstrates that your source is available. The accuracy study did not test whether adding an AI information page changes later engine answers. Check an actual answer and its cited source separately when you need evidence of how the company was represented.

  • For a software vendor: have the responsible product owner approve scoped claims before publication.
  • For an agency: preserve the client's source receipt rather than copying unverified descriptions from an AI answer.
  • For a buyer: use the linked product source to distinguish an official statement from an unsupported description.
