Which dealership software does ChatGPT recommend?

For an independent used-car dealer, the captured ChatGPT answers named DealerCenter, Frazer and AutoManager in all three runs of that question. Across the full dealership panel on 22 September 2026, DealerCenter appeared in 16 of 30 answers and CDK Global in 15. These are naming counts, not a verdict that either system meets your dealership's requirements.

What we measured

Measured. The dealership panel in the published September method contains ten questions and three ChatGPT runs per question. It retained all 30 planned answers. DealerCenter's 16 of 30 is 53.3 percent, with a descriptive 95 percent Wilson interval of 36.1 to 69.8 percent. The answers were captured on 22 September 2026 and released on 23 September.

Fifteen of the 22 checked vendors appeared at least once. The powersports or motorcycle-dealer question named DX1 and Lightspeed DMS in each of its three answers, while DealerCenter appeared in none. The table preserves all 22 vendors alphabetically so those contexts and the zero-count rows remain available without presenting a supplier ranking.

What this means for you

Reasoned. Choose the dealership type first. An independent lot, a franchise store and a dealer group running several rooftops need different questions. Carry that context into your research list rather than selecting a system solely because its name accumulated more appearances across the mixed panel.

Read the exact product name when following an answer to a source. A broad vendor statement may not establish what a particular DMS module includes. Ask the supplier to substantiate the operations your store needs, such as inventory handling, accounting or a required connection. None of those capabilities was tested by the name-matching measure here.

For a dealership software page, make the supported store type and product scope easy to verify. Keep an unverified feature in a research note until its source is clear. If you report an omitted vendor, retain the question and zero count as the observation; the absence alone does not diagnose product fit or the reason ChatGPT left it out.

Next step

Use Free 10-question check (one engine) with your actual dealership type, then read the returned supplier names against the public sources for that type of operation. No email is needed; runs are limited per network and per day, and by the site's daily allowance.

For one inaccurate DMS statement with a primary source behind the correction, choose Fix one answer, $490. The agreed work should identify the product fact and where its corrected wording will be served.

Every figure comes from the published method, v1.1.

Claiming or correcting a vendor record is free and never depends on a purchase.
