What is Google AI Mode?
Google AI Mode is a Search experience for exploring questions that call for reasoning, complex comparisons or further investigation, with links to supporting websites. A concrete observation: it named Procore in 3 of 3 answers to one small-residential-builder software question captured on 22 September 2026. That result describes a particular question and date, rather than the full range of what AI Mode can answer.
What we measured
Reported. Google's AI-feature documentation, read on 28 October 2026, explains AI Mode's exploration and comparison role. Both AI Mode and AI Overviews may issue related searches across subtopics and data sources. Google says the two can use different models and techniques, so their responses and links can vary.
Measured. The September construction category contained ten buyer questions and three scheduled runs per engine. For the question about construction-management software for a small residential builder, AI Mode named Procore in all three valid answers. The descriptive 95% Wilson interval is 43.9% to 100.0%, a wide range despite the complete observed count.
The September release, published 23 September 2026, supplies that question-level naming result. It does not supply an engine-specific own-domain citation count in this comparison. Reasoned. A product name in three answers is evidence of those mentions, without establishing a product recommendation, purchase or future presence.
Every figure comes from the published method, v1.1.
What this means for you
Label AI Mode separately from AI Overviews in a report. Combining them under “Google AI” would hide which experience produced the result and make a later comparison harder to interpret.
Keep the original question beside a screenshot or count. A complex comparison and a broad category search ask for different things, even when the same product appears in both.
Open the supporting links when a product fact matters to your decision. The ability to explore a question does not make every generated statement current or supported, and the naming count above cannot answer that factual question for you.

Choose the engine deliberately in Free 10-question check (one engine) and preserve the experience name with the captured answer. No email is needed; runs are limited per network and per day, and by the site's daily allowance.
If an AI Mode answer contains a checkable factual mistake, Fix one answer, $490 focuses on that answer and its source. The three recorded mentions are no promise of another mention.
Claiming or correcting a vendor record is free and never depends on a purchase.
