Which sources do AI answers cite for construction software?
Recorded construction citations included fieldwire.com in 52 of 150 answers captured on 22 September 2026, buildertrend.com in 37 and capterra.com in 34. These are pooled citation observations across five engines, not a list of sources every engine always uses. Follow the saved link to see what any one citation actually supports.
What we measured
Measured. The September release collected ten construction questions, with three runs on each of ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. All 150 answers were valid. A host counts once per answer, even if several links point to it. fieldwire.com's 52 of 150 is 34.7 percent, with a descriptive 95 percent Wilson interval of 27.5 to 42.6 percent; capture was 22 September 2026 and publication 23 September.
| Selected cited host | Valid answers citing that host |
|---|---|
| buildertrend.com | 37 of 150 |
| capterra.com | 34 of 150 |
| contractorforeman.com | 31 of 150 |
| fieldwire.com | 52 of 150 |
| procore.com | 32 of 150 |
| reddit.com | 30 of 150 |
These six examples come from the category's 206 recorded hosts and appear alphabetically. They are a selected reading list, not the full inventory or a quality ranking. Exact hosts stay separate: procore.com had 32 answer appearances while learn.procore.com had one. Neither value tells you which passage an answer used or whether that passage supports a product claim.
What this means for you
Reasoned. Choose a saved construction answer close to your work, then inspect its actual destination. A residential-builder shortlist and a capital-project comparison can cite the same host for different reasons. Preserve the linked page's title, date and relevant passage before using it in your own evaluation.
Test the smallest claim. If an answer says a product includes estimating or scheduling, locate the passage that establishes that function for the same product and edition. A citation to a vendor site, review service or discussion does not settle the claim merely because its host appears in this table.
For a publisher deciding where to clarify evidence, begin with a source you can actually read and a sentence you can substantiate. Correct a supported factual mistake in its proper scope. A domain's frequency supplies no measured basis for buying a listing, seeking a link or predicting a change in AI naming.
Keep the receipt at page level. If the destination later changes, the old host count still describes the dated collection while your source-read record describes what you saw. An unread destination remains unresolved; replacing it with a familiar home page would lose the evidence path.

Read one construction answer from Free 10-question check (one engine) and compare a cited passage with its adjacent claim. No email is needed; runs are limited per network and per day, and by the site's daily allowance.
For a documented mismatch between a source-page fact and its evidence, Fix one answer, $490 can target the correction. Frequent citation alone does not establish a mistake.
Every figure comes from the published method, v1.1.
Claiming or correcting a vendor record is free and never depends on a purchase.
