Which field service software does Perplexity recommend?

A one-person HVAC question and a commercial-contractor question produced different Perplexity lists. Across the thirty field-service answers captured on 22 September 2026, Housecall Pro appeared in 21, ServiceTitan in 16 and FieldPulse in 15. Thirteen of the 22 checked vendors were named somewhere, without a tested recommendation for your trade or crew.

What we measured

Measured. The fixed field-service bank covers ten questions, from a one-person HVAC business to commercial mechanical and fire-protection contractors. Three Perplexity runs per question produced thirty valid answers. In the 23 September release, Housecall Pro's 21 of 30 gives 70.0%, with a descriptive 95% Wilson interval of 52.1% to 83.3%, based on captures from the preceding day.

Housecall Pro appeared in all three answers for the one-person HVAC question. FieldPulse appeared in one. For commercial mechanical and fire-protection contractors, ServiceTrade, simpro and BuildOps each appeared in three answers, while Housecall Pro appeared in zero. Combining those questions conceals the trade and scale attached to each name.

These rows count matched vendor identities, with one occurrence per answer regardless of repetition. A source host in an answer is a separate event. The engine-specific table does not supply a Perplexity citation rate or evidence that any listed tool completed a contractor's work.

Every figure comes from the published method, v1.1.

What this means for you

Reasoned. Locate the question nearest your business before making a vendor list. A one-person HVAC operator's scheduling task and a commercial contractor's service requirements need their own evidence. The contrast between those saved answers is more informative than treating 21 of 30 as a universal choice.

Take one claim from the answer and check the exact product documentation. Specify the task, trade and edition you are evaluating. If an answer mentions fire-protection work, retain the source that supports that particular statement rather than substituting a general category description.

Keep all nine zero rows when you share the Perplexity results. BigChange or ServiceMax being absent here does not establish why they were omitted. A proposed explanation needs an answer passage or another source; the count alone provides neither.

Try Free 10-question check (one engine) using the service task and crew context you want to examine, and retain the wording rather than just the vendor list. No email is needed; runs are limited per network and per day, and by the site's daily allowance.

If a field-service answer makes one unsupported product assertion, use Fix one answer, $490 for the evidence-backed correction and verify the served result.

Claiming or correcting a vendor record is free and never depends on a purchase.
