Which dental software does Perplexity recommend?

Fifteen of the 20 checked dental vendors appeared in Perplexity's thirty answers captured on 22 September 2026. Open Dental was named in 23 of 30, while Curve Dental and Dentrix each appeared in 21. The office context changes the observed list; suitability for your practice still needs its own evidence.

What we measured

Measured. Thirty valid Perplexity answers make up the dental panel: ten predefined questions with three runs apiece. The published September data dates these captures to 22 September 2026 and the release to 23 September. Open Dental's naming rate is 76.7%, with a descriptive 95% Wilson interval of 59.1% to 88.2%.

For a very small office, Open Dental, Curve Dental and tab32 each appeared in all three answers; Dentrix Enterprise appeared in none. For a DSO with several locations, Dentrix Enterprise appeared in all three and Open Dental in two. These question cells describe which checked names occurred, without testing a product's suitability for either setting.

All Perplexity runs remain in this engine's base, including the three software-selection checklist answers with no checked names. The category's separate AI Overviews exclusion does not reduce the Perplexity count. Edition and family labels follow the published matching rules, so Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend and Dentrix Enterprise retain separate rows.

Every figure comes from the published method, v1.1.

What this means for you

Reasoned. Begin with the practice you actually run. A new office, a very small office and a multi-location organisation ask different software questions in this collection. Use the relevant saved answers to build a list for further checking rather than treating the category total as a procurement decision.

Read the product documentation behind each stated scheduling, billing or data-transfer claim. Keep the product edition visible in your notes. A name count cannot verify that your existing records will move cleanly or that a quoted arrangement applies to your practice.

If you represent a dental vendor, compare the exact matched identity with the public record before describing an absence. Five checked vendors have zero names in this Perplexity panel. Their zeros record this study's question set, not a finding about clinical performance or continued availability.

Start Free 10-question check (one engine) with the office context that matters to you and save the complete answer for review. No email is needed; runs are limited per network and per day, and by the site's daily allowance.

When one dental-software statement conflicts with a dated product source, Fix one answer, $490 can address that defined fact. Keep professional and purchasing judgments with the practice.

Claiming or correcting a vendor record is free and never depends on a purchase.
