Which sources do AI answers cite for legal practice software?

clio.com appeared in 53 of 150 legal-software answer source lists captured on 22 September 2026, and mycase.com in 50. Across the category, the recorded URLs covered 183 distinct hosts. Use those records to find the page behind a claim about a practice-management system; the citation count alone cannot verify the claim or recommend the system to your firm.

What we measured

Measured. The published September legal-software release supplies ten fixed questions with three answers from each of five engines. All 150 scheduled answers were valid. We counted each cited host once per answer across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. The capture date is 22 September 2026; publication followed on 23 September.

For clio.com, 53 of 150 is 35.3 percent, with a descriptive 95 percent Wilson interval of 28.1 to 43.3 percent. That is an answer-source-list event. Clio's separate naming count was 126 of 150; a name and a citation answer different measurement questions.

Selected cited host Valid answers citing that host
capterra.com 32 of 150
clio.com 53 of 150
g2.com 34 of 150
mycase.com 50 of 150
practicepanther.com 40 of 150
softwareadvice.com 40 of 150

The six hosts shown are selected examples from the full 183-host set, in alphabetical order. Their counts can overlap within an answer, so adding them does not produce the number of answers with a source. The pooled figures also do not reveal a particular engine's citation rate.

A source host can contain many pages, products and publication dates. Its presence says that a URL on that host was retained with an answer. It does not establish that the cited passage supports every adjacent sentence or that the vendor was chosen because of it.

Every figure comes from the published method, v1.1.

What this means for you

Reasoned. Begin with the practice's actual question. A lawyer researching a first system and a litigation team moving away from an existing installation may need different facts checked. Match the saved answer to that setting before comparing sources.

Read the exact cited page for the named edition and function. If the answer discusses billing, a connection or a product transition, record the passage and its date with that claim. Keep a supplier's own description separate from evidence that a function meets your firm's conditions.

When sharing the result, attach the narrow claim and source URL to the count. That gives a colleague something they can inspect. The 53 appearances of clio.com do not measure legal work, client outcomes, clicks or purchases, and a source correction needs its own factual basis.

Next step

Inspect the product claim and source in Free 10-question check (one engine). Retain the page passage that supports or contradicts the statement. No email is needed; runs are limited per network and per day, and by the site's daily allowance.

If that evidence resolves one incorrect legal-product fact, Fix one answer, $490 can address the statement on the relevant page. No future citation follows from the recorded count.

Claiming or correcting a vendor record is free and never depends on a purchase.
