Can veterinary software integrate with ChatGPT?
If you need a custom ChatGPT connection for an ezyVet practice, the published API and GPT Actions documentation provide possible building blocks, subject to ezyVet approval. Our separate Agent Gap study reached 12 endpoints from 15 initial veterinary-software website tasks on 6 October 2026; it did not connect a practice account.
What we measured
Reported. The ezyVet API documentation, read on 30 October 2026 UTC, describes a REST interface with JSON requests and responses. It publishes OpenAPI specifications for animal records, appointments and other sections. Its custom-integration page describes reporting and connecting a practice's own tools, with separate read and write access.
OpenAI's GPT Actions guide, read the same day, describes connecting a custom GPT to external APIs using an API schema and configured authentication. Reading those documents together supports a possible custom development route, rather than a claim that ezyVet ships a ready-made ChatGPT connector.
Measured. The Agent Gap study design covered five veterinary vendors with three initial public-site tasks each. Twelve tasks reached their destination. For ezyVet, the description and pricing tasks reached their endpoints while the demo-path task did not. Those were public buying-path observations.
Reasoned. Our study and these documents cannot establish compatibility, permitted clinical use or successful operation for your proposed account connection.
What this means for you
Choose the access route. The private-integration rules distinguish a customer using its own data from a commercial partner distributing integrations. They require assessment and an agreement, keep access specific to the customer's use, and say credentials must not be sent to a third-party company. An exported OpenAPI document does not remove those conditions.
Authentication also needs a design. ezyVet documents a client-credentials exchange, while GPT Actions require their own authentication configuration. A practice's developer would need to resolve that boundary, potentially through a service the practice controls, rather than assuming two API documents form a working direct connection. The private-integration page also describes fees; this is not a promise of free access.
Keep reads distinct from writes. The ezyVet documentation separates fetching animal records from changing appointments, and its specifications name the corresponding access scopes. A proposed reporting task should therefore identify the exact permitted read and returned fields. If a demonstration instead changes an appointment, that would be a different action requiring its own permission and evidence, not proof that the original read-only reporting request was satisfied.
