How would you optimize an e-commerce product page for Google and AI search visibility?
If your product page shows an amount without saying what it buys, make the offer explicit before adding search markup. In the construction category of our Answer RFP study, five of 149 included answers stated a clear pricing basis and included features; the capture date was 22 September 2026. Apply that distinction to the product configuration, amount and currency that your page actually offers.
What we measured
Measured. The published study and method code the criterion Clear pricing basis and included features in 5/149 included construction-category answers. All five come from the pricing question: two ChatGPT returns and three Claude returns on 22 September 2026. The published interval is 1.4% to 7.6%, and the source carries Team review: in progress. This software-answer panel does not measure e-commerce visibility or a causal effect from changing price copy or markup.
Reported. Google's merchant-listing guide, read on 30 October 2026, requires an active Offer price above zero and its three-letter ISO 4217 currency. It applies merchant listings to pages where shoppers can buy the product; its product-snippet guide also covers editorial product reviews. Google's AI-feature guidance, read on 29 October, requires a page to be indexed and eligible for a Search snippet to qualify as a supporting link.
Reasoned. The study's pricing passages distinguish the amount from its billing basis, required modules and included access. On a product page, the corresponding editorial task is to explain the configuration beside the amount, then encode that same offer.
What this means for you
Name the priced configuration. A price for a pack, a variant or a subscription needs the corresponding quantity or term in visible text. Our software examples distinguish per-user, per-project and construction-volume pricing; the transferable point is the unit being purchased, rather than the category's particular licensing model. Put included components beside the amount so a reader can tell which configuration the Offer describes.
Choose the Google format for the page you operate. A store page where a shopper can purchase a specific product fits the merchant-listing route. An editorial review that links to another seller has a different role, covered by product snippets. Google's merchant guide focuses on a single product or its variants and calls for a distinct URL per currency when selling in multiple currencies. That distinction matters before you copy one currency value across regional pages.
Compare the visible active price with the two places an Offer can encode it. Google's guide accepts the active price directly in offers.price or inside priceSpecification. If both encode an active price, Google uses offers.price and ignores the other active-price property. For a sale page with conflicting amounts, that documented precedence identifies which field to reconcile with the amount the shopper can actually buy.
