Can Google, Bing and LLMs find content on Threads?
A public Threads address does not by itself prove that Google, Bing or an LLM returns its content. We found no recorded threads.net or threads.com citation host in 2,093 included Answer RFP responses, collected over 22 September 2026 and the following day. This source result describes our software-buyer sample, not whether a particular Threads post is indexed.
What we measured
Measured. The Answer RFP method and records preserve citation-URL fields for the included responses. We checked both Threads hostnames, counting each host at most once per answer. Thirty-eight records have empty URL lists. Team review of the study remains in progress; missing recorded URLs are not a complete account of every source an engine could access.
Reported. Meta’s April 2025 web announcement, read on 30 October 2026 UTC, describes the move from threads.net to threads.com. Its December 2023 EU update, read the same day, describes browsing without a profile in that region.
Reasoned. Those dated access statements and our recorded citations cannot establish today’s Google or Bing index status for an individual post, or whether it was used in model training.
What this means for you
Keep both hostnames. Meta’s migration announcement makes a search of only threads.net incomplete for a source review spanning the change. The absence we report comes from checking the two named hosts in stored citation fields; it is not a test of every URL on either domain.
The EU announcement has a narrower meaning than unrestricted crawler access. It describes people browsing content and searching accounts without creating a profile, while preventing them from posting or interacting. That historical user experience does not supply an engine’s index entry for the particular post you care about.
Google’s AI feature requirements separately require an indexed, snippet-eligible page for a supporting link. A Threads post being visible to a person therefore leaves a separate Google state to establish. Our sample also provides no Bing inspection receipt for that post, so a Google observation should not be presented as Bing evidence.
