Will CRM get replaced by AI?

HubSpot’s documented ChatGPT connection uses records in a connected HubSpot account, so that workflow adds an AI interface without replacing the CRM behind it. Our buyer-language study coded one CRM answer for the system-of-record criterion, from a 150-answer capture on 22 September 2026. Neither observation is a forecast that the whole CRM market will disappear or remain unchanged.

What we measured

Measured. The study-specific coding method examines what criteria engines state in answers. The CRM panel has 150 included returns from ten questions, three repeats and five engines. One is coded for the system-of-record criterion. Its published review remains in progress. That small coded frequency is not evidence that the other 149 buyers do not need a reliable record system: the records are model answers, not surveyed buyers.

Reported. HubSpot’s ChatGPT help describes connecting an account, using the available record access and working with supported HubSpot objects. Access depends on the connected account’s settings and permissions. It describes an interface to an existing system, rather than a standalone replacement database.

Reasoned. An assistant can change how a person reads or updates business information while the source of record remains elsewhere. Our data does not establish future CRM market share, replacement dates or employment effects.

What this means for you

For an existing HubSpot workflow, ask where the customer record will exist after the chat ends. Check which account and object the connection addresses, which fields are supported and what link lets you verify a created record. Open that record. A conversation that proposes a change is not the same event as the account saving it.

The saved HubSpot help gives specific limits for that interface. Bulk creation or updating is limited to ten records at a time. Custom validation rules, including pipeline-stage and association-label validations, are not applied through the connector. A Super Admin selects the connector’s data permissions, and users remain limited by their existing account permissions.
