How does Google AI Mode affect site clicks?
A citation total cannot tell you whether AI Mode raised or lowered site clicks. Our 22 September 2026 Index recorded a HubSpot-domain URL in 3 of 30 Google AI Mode CRM answers. Those are three answer observations; estimating a traffic change requires the separate click records and their reporting scope.
What we measured
Measured. The original CRM panel contains ten questions with three Mode returns apiece. Three answers cite at least one HubSpot-owned host: one for a B2B sales team, one for replacing spreadsheets and one for a forecasting comparison. The forecasting answer contains both a HubSpot Academy URL and a HubSpot Knowledge Base URL, while contributing one answer to the domain count.
Reported. Google's AI-features guide, read on 29 October 2026, places AI Mode and AI Overviews traffic within Search Console's Performance report under the Web search type. It separately discusses conversion and time-on-site analysis in analytics tools.
Reasoned. The three citing answers cannot be subtracted from, or added to, a Web click total: the observations have different units. This CRM capture contains no click or visitor records and was not a site-traffic experiment.
What this means for you
Count the answer once. In the forecasting return, the recorded links point to an Academy reporting course and a Knowledge Base forecasting page. Two owned-host links in one response still contribute one to our three-answer figure. The retained URLs contain no event showing that a person opened either link.
The other Mode references lead to different HubSpot resources: a Sales product page in the sales-team answer and the CRM product page in the spreadsheet-replacement answer. That context belongs beside a citation chart. A change in which page is selected is an answer-source observation; it is different from a change in the number of people arriving at one landing page.
For your site's reporting, Google's Web grouping creates a specific boundary: it includes these AI features within overall search traffic. The cited guide does not turn that aggregate into a separate Mode-only click series.
