How does ChatGPT relate to SEO?
OpenAI's ChatGPT search help describes retrieving web information and linking sources, which can support SEO (search engine optimization) research. Our 22 September 2026 Index records Salesforce-domain URLs in 19 of 30 ChatGPT CRM (customer relationship management) answers. Those are source-selection observations, separate from the Google page conditions and traffic records used to assess SEO work.
Observed answers on stated dates, not a ranking.
What we measured
Measured. The original CRM release retains ten questions and three ChatGPT returns per question. We recounted the recorded URL hosts, treating an answer with any Salesforce-owned host as one citing answer. Nineteen of the thirty answers meet that rule. This sample did not measure ranking changes, visits or the effect of using ChatGPT for SEO.
One ChatGPT answer captured on 22 September 2026 includes this wording:

Reported. The OpenAI help page, read on 29 October 2026, describes source-linked search answers. Google's AI features guide, read that day, says established SEO practices remain relevant and identifies indexing plus snippet eligibility for supporting links.
Reasoned. ChatGPT's documented research function and Google's published-URL requirements describe different parts of the work. A retained source link gives a reader a document to inspect; it does not itself establish the document's search performance.
What this means for you
Read the handoff return. For the handoff and follow-up question, ChatGPT's first return retains a Salesforce Help URL with the article identifier sales.tasks.htm and a Trailhead sales-process path. The second return records a Help URL with sales.creating_tasks.htm; the third cites Salesforce's CRM project-management path. These are the destinations retained for this particular handoff question.
For Google supporting links, the guide names concrete publication conditions. An indexed page must also be permitted to show a snippet.
