What certifications cover answer engine optimization?

On 30 October 2026, HubSpot Academy’s public AEO certification page (answer engine optimization) lists AEO Fundamentals and Implementing AEO With HubSpot. Read the credential’s scope beside an actual evidence task: our Wrong About You study labeled 3 of 32 Contractor Foreman statements wrong, comparing 22 September 2026 answers with a vendor reference checked 8 October 2026. That historical fact-checking result is not a score for either certification.

Observed answers on stated dates, not a ranking.

What we measured

Measured. The study method classifies retained product statements against dated public vendor references. Contractor Foreman has 29 true and 3 wrong statements from a 32-statement base. One error treats a company fee as a per-user charge; another gives the wrong user allowance; the third describes a free tier. The public team review remains in progress. The study did not measure course completion or credential holders’ results.

The retained historical Claude statement, captured on 22 September 2026 and marked wrong against the dated vendor reference, reads:

Contractor Foreman starts from $49/month per user

This is the disputed historical statement, not a current vendor price. Team review: in progress.

Reported. HubSpot’s certification overview, read on 30 October 2026, labels Fundamentals free and product-agnostic, and the implementation certification free and HubSpot-specific. The implementation course page, read on 30 October 2026, lists seven lessons, 23 videos and four practical exercises, with a published duration of 2 hours 58 minutes.

Reasoned. A named educational credential tells you which program a person completed. A source-checking example tells you how a particular claim was assessed. Keep the two records distinct.

What this means for you

Choose between the advertised scopes. The Fundamentals description concerns an AEO strategy and measurement vocabulary; the implementation program concerns using HubSpot’s tools. A certificate carrying the latter title should not be presented as evidence of practical experience on every other platform.

If you are assessing someone’s work, ask them to distinguish the pricing unit in the Contractor Foreman example. In the historical reference, the listed fee applies to the company rather than each user. Check the unit.

Keep the reference date attached when you use that exercise. The 8 October comparison concerns what the vendor’s page stated then; it is not a current subscription quotation. A useful answer would identify the billing and user assumptions and point to the relevant dated passage instead of repeating the model’s per-user wording.
