How does Perplexity relate to SEO?
Perplexity named Insightly in 3 of 30 CRM (customer relationship management) answers, while ChatGPT named it in 0 of 30, in our 22 September 2026 release method. SEO (search engine optimization) concerns how people and search systems find your pages; the Perplexity result concerns what its answers actually include. A position in another engine’s results does not tell you which product names or sources appeared here.
Observed answers on stated dates, not a ranking.
What we measured
Measured. We used ten CRM buyer questions and three repeats on each engine. The CRM release CSV gives separate naming columns. Insightly’s Perplexity count was three, Claude’s was two and ChatGPT’s was zero. These are saved answers from one dated question set.
One Perplexity answer captured on 22 September 2026 includes this wording:
SugarCRM, Creatio, Copper, Insightly, and Freshsales, depending on workflow complexity and existing tooling.
Our name check and owned-domain citation check are different measures. The Perplexity column does not say that all three answers cited Insightly’s website, ranked its pages first or sent it a visitor. Read the linked source beside the complete answer before applying any of those descriptions.
Reported. Perplexity’s search documentation, read on 30 October 2026, describes searches, synthesized answers and linked sources. That is the operator’s description of its product, rather than an explanation of the individual Insightly observations.
Reasoned. Retain the SEO work that makes a page accessible and useful. Add an answer review: what was asked, which product was named, where the source link went and whether the cited passage supported the claim. Treat a product mention as its own event.
What this means for you
All three Insightly names occur in the mid-market CRM question. The first Perplexity return puts it in a supplementary group with SugarCRM, Creatio, Copper and Freshsales after the main comparison. The second describes that group through possible workflow, integration and selling needs. An analyst reading only the binary column would miss that supplementary role and the question that produced it.
Follow the numbered link. In the first return, the supplementary-options sentence attaches references including an Insightly mid-size-business destination. The retained source list also includes a TrustRadius mid-sized-CRM article. These are different publishers and destinations attached to the answer, rather than positions in a Google result. A source review can record that distinction without treating the attached URLs as a fresh review of their present contents.
